01.What we collect
Here is exactly what Likhit Prelims collects, in plain terms — nothing else:

Unlike Likhit Mains, Prelims does not collect handwritten answers, uploaded photos, or documents. We also do not collect your Aadhaar, phone number, geolocation, contacts, or data from other apps on your device.

03.Your practice data
Your attempts, mistakes, and bookmarks are yours. We hold them to power features you use — the Dashboard, the mistake Notebook, revision prompts, and accuracy tracking. That is the entire deal.
- Practice data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
- No human at Likhit reads your individual attempts unless you explicitly send them to support.
- We do not use your attempts to train AI models.
The “why this is right / why the others are wrong” explanations are AI-generated study aids attached to each question when it is added to the bank. Generating them uses the question text only — never your identity or your practice history.
05.How long we keep it
- Attempts, notebook, bookmarks — for the life of your account, so your history and revision stay useful.
- Account data — until you ask us to delete it, then up to 30 days in cold storage to honour a reversal, then gone.
- Telemetry — up to 365 days, then aggregated to non-identifying counts.
06.Your rights & controls
Under India’s DPDP Act 2023 you have the right to:
- Access — get a copy of the account and practice data we hold on you.
- Correct — fix errors in your account details.
- Erase — delete your account and the practice data tied to it.
- Grieve — escalate a concern to us and get a response within 7 working days.

07.How we secure data
- Encryption in transit and at rest for account and practice data.
- Production access is restricted, logged, and reviewed.
- We are strengthening our controls throughout the beta and will publish a fuller security overview at general availability.
If we become aware of a reportable cyber-security incident, we will report it to CERT-In within 6 hours of noticing it, in line with the CERT-In Directions issued under Section 70B(6) of the Information Technology Act, 2000. Where a personal-data breach affects you, we will also notify the affected users and the Data Protection Board of India as required under the DPDP Act, 2023, without undue delay, describing what happened and what to do.
08.Age requirement
Likhit Prelims is built for adult civil-services aspirants. You must be 18 or older, or using it with verifiable consent from a parent or lawful guardian. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe we have, write to hello@likhit.in and we will delete it within 7 days.
09.Cookies & analytics
Essential storage — always active, because sign-in cannot work without it:
- lk_id / lk_rt — cookies that keep you signed in (your authentication tokens). Expire after a period of inactivity.
- lk_consent_analytics — remembers the analytics choice you made below, so we don’t ask again.
Optional analytics — off until you allow it:
- We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how Likhit Prelims is used in aggregate — which features people reach, where they stop, and whether revision actually helps. This tells us what to fix and what to build next.
- Google Analytics is loaded only after you choose “Accept analytics”. If you decline, or simply never choose, no Google script is loaded and no analytics cookies are set.
- Google may process your device type, browser, approximate location (derived from IP, which GA4 does not store) and the pages you visit. Google acts as our processor for this data.
- We never send Google your name, email, phone number, the questions you attempt, the options you choose, or anything you type. Events carry internal question ids and fixed categories such as subject and difficulty — never question or answer text. Our code strips any parameter that looks like personal data before it is sent.
- If you are signed in, we attach our own internal account id so we can tell a returning aspirant from a new one. It is a random identifier that means nothing outside Likhit, and it is cleared when you sign out.
- We do not run advertising or remarketing. Google’s advertising consent signals stay switched off at all times, whatever you choose below.

No Meta Pixel, no Hotjar, no advertising networks, and no data brokers.
10.Changes to this policy
If we change anything material, we’ll notify signed-in users before the new version takes effect, with a plain-English summary of what changed. Cosmetic edits (typos, broken links) we may make quietly.
